Your Role and Responsibilities
This position is based in Radford, VA or Ft. Belvoir, VA, requiring 5 days onsite. As a Senior Backup Engineer, you will:
- Develop enterprise-level backup solutions using NetBackup for all sites within the environment.
- Deploy and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for the NetBackup enclave, ensuring seamless integration as new applications are hosted.
- Administer daily operations of NetBackup tools, including patching and upgrading.
- Monitor backup resource utilization and coordinate with the lead for necessary resources.
- Implement hardening of NetBackup products according to commercial best practices and government cybersecurity controls.
- Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis for backup-related issues.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of systems, infrastructure, and processes.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Senior-level experience with NetBackup in a multi-site environment.
- Proficient in automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across technology stacks.
- Security+ or equivalent certification; must obtain a computing environment certification within 6 months of hire.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance or higher.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Familiarity with DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and the Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) process.
