The Role
As a Senior Software Engineer in the Payments team at Airbnb, you will be at the forefront of handling financial transactions that are integral to the operations of the platform. This role involves developing and refining payment systems that handle billions of dollars across multiple countries and currencies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Design, Policy, and Operations to deliver solutions that are not only efficient but also scalable to meet the needs of a growing global user base.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and refinement of projects focusing on cost optimization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and ship impactful features.
- Present product and technical deep dives to key stakeholders.
- Partner with other engineering teams to provide holistic services to users.
- Lead and mentor other engineers within and outside your immediate team.
- Advocate for advancing Airbnb's engineering processes and technical foundations.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of industry engineering experience.
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong proficiency in back-end server languages like Java, Ruby, Go, C++, etc.
- Experience with high-scale web and data applications in a distributed environment.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in the payments industry is highly desirable.
Location
This position is remote eligible in the United States, with occasional work from an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites as agreed with your manager.
