About the Role
As a Senior Staff Software Engineer focused on AI for Developer Productivity at Airbnb, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the productivity of our engineering teams. You will be part of the Developer Platform team, which is responsible for the infrastructure that supports the entire developer lifecycle at Airbnb. This includes everything from local development environments to continuous delivery systems.
Key Responsibilities
- AI Strategy Development: Lead the formulation of our AI strategy to enhance developer productivity. This includes AI-based automatic test generation, code generation, and AI-assisted code reviews.
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical expertise in decision-making and architecture, ensuring the best solutions are implemented while considering constraints.
- Hands-on Development: Engage in coding across the entire stack to build and deploy AI tools. This role requires a hands-on approach, similar to a startup environment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineering leaders across Airbnb to facilitate the adoption of new AI capabilities.
- Team Leadership: Act as a player/coach, ensuring high code quality and operational excellence.
Required Expertise
- Experience: 12+ years in the industry with extensive experience in developer tooling and platforms.
- AI/ML Application: Proven experience in applying AI/ML technologies within software development.
- Technical Excellence: Ability to foster a culture of technical excellence and cross-functional collaboration.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Education: Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in one or more back-end server languages (Java, Ruby, Go, C++, etc.) and experience with high-scale distributed systems.
Location
This position is remote-eligible within the United States, with occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites as agreed with your manager.

Compensation
- Salary Range: $244,000—$304,000 USD per year.
- Additional Benefits: This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and employee travel credits.
