The Role
As a Senior Software Engineer at Airbnb, you will be part of the Global Tax Engineering team, tackling some of the most unique and challenging problems faced by our business. This role involves ownership of both guest and host facing product experiences and backend systems crucial for Airbnb’s operations across numerous jurisdictions globally.
Responsibilities
- Develop microservices and APIs to drive platform integrations across web and mobile platforms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build interfaces and systems that can evolve to meet critical business needs.
- Work on scaling distributed applications in a highly-available 24x7 environment, making architectural trade-offs and applying design patterns.
- Continuously improve your expertise in distributed systems, large compute clusters, and petabyte-scale storage infrastructure.
Your Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- At least 3 years of industry experience.
- Demonstrable knowledge in Java, Kotlin, Scala, Python, Go, Rust, C/C++/C#.
- Experience with architectural patterns of high-scale web applications, such as well-designed APIs, data pipelines, and efficient algorithms.
- Desire to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams with design, product, and data science partners.

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
