Senior Staff Software Engineer

About the Role

VIZIO’s Technology – Software and Services team is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to join their growing team in Dallas, Texas. This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively within the team and contribute to the innovation of VIZIO products. The Senior Staff Software Engineer will report directly to the supervisor leading the team and will be responsible for tasks requiring a high level of technical insight.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Implement Software: Develop software related to TV and related cloud services.
• Team Management: Lead a team, communicate designs and decisions, and encourage new ideas and solutions.
• Software Development Process: Engage in every stage of the application software development process.
• Mobile Application Development: Code and build high-quality mobile applications.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Drive the execution and delivery of features by collaborating with cross-functional teams, architects, product owners, and engineers.
• Critical Decision Making: Make critical decisions that contribute to the success of the product.
• API/SDK Design: Design APIs/SDKs used by other teams, both internal and external to the company.
• Coordination and Planning: Participate in cross-functional coordination, planning, and reviews with leads from other engineering teams.
• Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and mentor the software engineering team, helping to identify and break down product goals into technical projects.
• Continuous Improvement: Help continuously improve team productivity, code quality, tool, and technology adoption.
• Agile Methodology: Work in Agile mode, including attending daily status meetings with the entire team.
• Complexity Resolution: Resolve the complexity of business rules to a form understandable by the development team.
• Research and Implementation: Research and implement new design patterns and standards to improve existing workflows.
• Project Delivery: Collaborate with QA, release management, operations, and third-party partners to deliver projects on time.
• Software Design Review: Review software design and implementations, ensuring clean, extensible, and modular code for cross-platform architecture.

About You

• Educational Background: B.S. in a relevant technical degree.
• Experience: 7+ years in full-stack development using Python, NodeJS, JavaScript, React, TypeScript, and SQL.
• Software Development and Design: Strong experience with Django, Django REST framework, and Flask.
• AWS Ecosystem: At least 3 years of experience with AWS tools, services, and resources.
• Microservices: Experience in designing and building scalable microservices.
• Messaging Frameworks: Experience with SQS, SNS.
• Serverless Stack: Experience with Lambda, API Gateway, Fargate, ECS, and EKS.
• Database Management: Experience with No-SQL databases like Dynamo, Cassandra, Mongo; graph DBs like Neo4j; and in-memory DB like Redis, Elasticache is a plus.
• Software Best Practices: Proficiency with CI/CD using Git/AWS Code Commit, writing unit tests, maintaining clear documentation, UML diagramming.
• Analytics and Telemetry Tools: Experience with tools like GA4, Sumologic, New Relic.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Team Player: Must be a team player participating in Agile ceremonies and collaborating with the team.
