Join the Amazon Kids Team in Madrid
Amazon Kids is seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer to join our team in Madrid. Our mission is to provide children with content they love and devices built just for them, while giving parents the oversight and controls they need to feel safe. As part of our team, you will help build features that empower parents to control their kids' activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning: Participate in defining the structure and strategic goals for the organization.
- Software Development: Work with your manager to clarify requirements, design solutions, and solve complex software problems.
- Mentorship: Mentor new teammates and help them develop production software in line with Amazon's quality standards.
- Ownership: Take responsibility for the long-term quality and success of the products your team builds.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in engineering and operational excellence.
A Day in the Life
In this role, you will leverage your experience as a Software Engineer to solve technical challenges for cross-platform mobile applications (FireOS, Android, iOS). You will invent, design, and build software that addresses the daily challenges faced by kids and their parents. You will collaborate closely with leadership and product management stakeholders to design simple solutions, maintain production software, and identify pain points to drive your team to solve them.
About the Team
Amazon Kids+ offers a wide range of content that kids and parents love, including books, movies, TV shows, educational apps, and games, along with a child-friendly Alexa experience. It provides award-winning parental controls and monitoring through the Parent Dashboard, ensuring peace of mind for parents and a world of fun for kids.
Basic Qualifications
- Several years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- Experience in design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Experience with iOS frameworks and Apple's design guidelines.
- Experience with Android frameworks and Google's design guidelines.
- Experience with React and React Native.
- Knowledge of push notifications and client-backend integrations.
