Software Engineer III, Frontend Platforms

About the Role
Wayfair is seeking a talented Software Engineer III to join our Frontend Platforms team. This role is pivotal in designing and implementing the customer-facing website, ensuring a seamless shopping experience for millions of users. You will collaborate with Product, Experience Design, Analytics, and business leaders to build technology that addresses key customer problems in scalable and elegant ways.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain scalable front-end applications using Next.js and React.
- Write thoughtful, scalable, and performant React, CSS, and HTML code to build and test new features.
- Optimize build processes and performance, including bundling using webpack and turborepo.
- Enhance developer tooling and workflows to streamline development processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to front-end performance and compatibility.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and advocate for best practices within the team.
- Contribute to decisions, initiatives, and coding patterns that influence the broader frontend platform at Wayfair.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in Next.js and React with demonstrable experience in developing large-scale applications.
- Deep understanding of JavaScript state management libraries, such as Redux, MobX, or Apollo.
- Experience in designing and implementing developer tooling, such as CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and code quality tools.
- Solid understanding of responsive design principles and cross-browser compatibility.
- Up-to-date on the latest frontend and design technology, trends, and industry news.
