Space Operations Training Engineer (Full Stack Software)
Overview
SpaceX is seeking a dedicated Space Operations Training Engineer to join our innovative team. This role is pivotal in preparing spacecraft operators for human and cargo spaceflight missions. As a Space Operations Training Engineer, you will not only train others but also become a SpaceX spacecraft operator, contributing to the development of a new paradigm for 21st-century spaceflight training.
Responsibilities
- Develop, train, and evaluate operations teams for Dragon and Starship missions.
- Split your time equally between full stack development and operator training.
- Challenge existing requirements, develop new tools, and reshape training workflows.
- Create training content and plans, and instruct mission control operators.
- Plan, schedule, and execute training events and simulations with SpaceX, NASA, and customer teams.
- Script, test, and deploy simulation software components.
- Maintain the simulation environment, including servers, applications, and automation.
- Serve as an on-console mission control operator for spaceflight missions.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to a wide audience.
- Collaborate with operations teams to innovate human interaction with spacecraft.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science.
- 1+ years of experience in technical training or real-time operations.
- 1+ years of programming experience in Python or JavaScript.
Preferred Skills
- Master’s degree in a technical discipline.
- Experience with spacecraft/aircraft engineering or operations.
- Professional software development experience.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage expectations and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to travel occasionally to other SpaceX sites.
- Availability to work long hours and weekends as needed.
Compensation & Benefits
- Level I: $95,000 - $115,000 per year
- Level II: $110,000 - $130,000 per year
- Comprehensive benefits package including stock options, bonuses, and more.
