Launch Engineer, Falcon Engineering
Overview
As a Launch Engineer in Falcon Engineering at SpaceX, you will play a critical role in the processing of Falcon 9 flight vehicles. Your primary focus will be on ensuring rapid and reliable rocket re-use, integration, and launch. This position requires a hands-on approach to assembly, integration, and testing of both new and flight-proven vehicle assemblies.
Responsibilities
- Process Falcon 9 Flight Vehicles: Work towards rapid and reliable rocket re-use, integration, and launch.
- Develop and Execute Procedures: Create and implement procedures for the checkout and integration of rockets and ground support equipment.
- Lead Hands-On Assembly: Assist with and lead the assembly, integration, and testing of vehicle assemblies.
- Critical On-Site Operations: Lead operations while collaborating with engineering staff to resolve test results and ensure flight readiness.
- Design and Develop Tools: Create tools and hardware for vehicle assembly and system testing.
- Identify High-Risk Processes: Proactively implement improvements to ensure operational excellence.
- Root Cause and Corrective Action: Lead investigations to ensure product reliability and quality.
- Refine Manufacturing Procedures: Develop and refine procedures based on lessons learned.
- Manage Work Orders: Drive non-conformances into actionable items and system improvements.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
- 1+ years of hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and/or fluid systems.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Advanced degree in mechatronics, mechanical, aerospace, electrical, or computer engineering.
- 3+ years of experience designing, building, integrating, and testing complex systems.
- Experience with test plans and procedures.
- Proficiency in launch vehicle or spacecraft integration, composite structure design, and test operations.
- Experience with hazardous systems and large assembly moves.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to pass Air Force background check for Vandenberg Air Force Base.
- Physical effort including standing, lifting, and carrying materials.
- Flexibility on shifts and occasional travel may be required.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: €95,000 - €115,000 per year.
