Job Overview
Meta is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to join the Oculus Studios Core Engineering team. This role is based in Menlo Park, California, and involves leading a team of engineers to develop and support common client-facing solutions across Oculus Studios. The successful candidate will work closely with various teams within Meta to ensure alignment on long-term objectives and help define the roadmap for game studios.
Key Responsibilities
- Support engineers in developing solutions for Game Hosting & Matchmaking, Voice Chat, In-Game Notifications, and more.
- Provide feedback to engineers to help them grow in their careers.
- Mediate disputes and collaborate with Oculus Studios management to ensure alignment on objectives.
- Define the roadmap for Meta's infrastructure and new technology support for game studios.
- Build and launch features as part of a 1st Party product and learn from those launches.
- Develop custom solutions that align with the Metaverse, such as Avatars and Common Identity.
- Work as a full-stack developer and gain familiarity with multiple coding languages and game engines.
- Onboard new game studio engineers to Meta infrastructure and internal tools.
- Partner with other teams within Meta to migrate game studio services.
- Assist game studios in building, scaling, and optimizing new features.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2+ years of management experience.
- 5+ years of experience in developing backend services for games or enterprise environments.
- Broad knowledge of games and game development or enterprise scale infrastructure.
- Experience with C/C++ or C#.
- Experience with Python or PowerShell.
- Experience collaborating with team members across multiple disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of management experience.
- 10+ years of experience developing backend services for games.
- Experience with major game engines like Unreal and Unity.
- Experience as a Full-Stack developer in a large scale distributed environment.
- Experience with backend security, privacy, scalability, and persistence storage design paradigms.
- Experience with major cloud providers like AWS and Azure.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering.

Compensation
- Salary range: $177,000/year to $251,000/year
- Additional compensation includes bonus and equity
