About the Role
We are seeking a Staff Frontend Engineer to join our dynamic team at Runway. As a key member of our Frontend team, you will be instrumental in building cutting-edge, AI-powered video creation and collaboration tools. We are looking for engineers who are not just specialists but are curiosity-driven problem solvers who thrive in fast-paced, high-ownership environments.
Responsibilities
- Create Rich Multimedia Interfaces: Develop interfaces using the latest AI video generation models, such as Gen-1 and Gen-2.
- Collaborate with a World-Class Team: Work alongside a talented engineering team to push the boundaries of creativity and content creation on the browser.
- Innovate Across the Frontend Stack: Implement new product features for Runway’s machine learning-based generative AI tools.
- Enhance Performance and Reliability: Improve the performance, reliability, and code quality of our codebases.
Technical Stack
Our generative AI tools' rich UI is powered by TypeScript and React/Redux, while the real-time compositing and graphics engine runs on WebGL2 and WebAssembly. Our API endpoints for real-time collaboration and media asset management are written in TypeScript and Node.js, deployed as serverless functions on AWS Lambda.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3-6 years in a software engineering role, ideally frontend-focused.
- Programming Languages: Demonstrated fluency in JavaScript/TypeScript.
- System Architecture: Experience in architecting production-ready systems and familiarity with debugging and profiling tools.
- Prototyping Skills: Ability to rapidly prototype solutions and iterate on them with tight product deadlines.
- Team Player: Humility and open-mindedness; a willingness to learn from others.
