Staff Software Engineer - Backend

About The Role

As a Staff Software Engineer specializing in Backend Development at Ramp, you will play a pivotal role in leading and mentoring a team of highly skilled engineers. Your primary focus will be on solving complex backend challenges, engaging in hands-on coding, and driving the success of our products in a fast-paced startup environment. You will leverage your technical expertise and leadership skills to enhance the productivity and output of your team.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of backend engineers, providing coaching, mentoring, and advocacy to foster their growth and success.
Technical Vision: Collaborate on the development of our technical vision and lead discussions and implementations of complex projects.
Process Improvement: Continuously improve our engineering processes, tools, and systems to scale our codebase and enhance team productivity.
Recruitment and Culture: Engage in recruiting efforts, develop interview questions, and foster a culture of excellence, velocity, and humility.

What You'll Need

Experience: A minimum of 7 years in backend engineering, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership role.
Track Record: Proven experience in shipping high-quality products and leading projects at scale.
Problem Solving: Ability to translate business and product ideas into engineering solutions.
Fast-Paced Environment: Desire to work in a dynamic environment, continuously grow, and master your craft.
