Senior Software Engineer, Backend

Role Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer, Backend at Standard AI, you will be instrumental in setting up our expanding micro-services, building or rebuilding data models, and establishing integrations with various client APIs and ML services. You will collaborate closely with machine learning, application, infrastructure, and other backend engineering teams to deploy scalable and resilient systems that meet our evolving product requirements. Your work will focus on creating new ways to manage system complexity, ensuring that our customers have the most streamlined, frictionless experience possible.

Responsibilities

Design and implement services and APIs supporting both internal and external products.
Ensure our code is scalable, maintainable, and reliable.
Partner with other teams to iterate quickly on experimental systems that solve real user problems.
Proactively find and fix performance bottlenecks in our services.
Mentor junior engineers and help establish best practices for cloud-based microservices.

Who You Are

You have 4+ years of backend development experience with object-oriented languages (Python, Go, Java, etc.).
You have built cloud-based microservices and are an expert at event-based architecture.
You have built and scaled MVPs.
You enjoy solving complex and ambiguous problems efficiently - sometimes by writing code, but also by knowing when not to write code.
You enjoy helping other developers become better, through code review, design discussions, and more.
