The Role

As an AI Software Engineer, you will be part of a world-class team enabling software for leading datacenters and supercomputers. You will work with a team of developers to push the boundaries of efficiency and performance, optimizing the software ecosystem for the next generation of GPU computational accelerators. You will collaborate with sophisticated clients to leverage the latest hardware capabilities for their AI use cases, combining the newest hardware with the latest applications, libraries, frameworks, and SDKs.

Key Responsibilities

• Enable deep learning models, libraries, and applications for Instinct GPUs in both on-prem and cloud environments.
• Analyze and optimize the performance of AI software, understanding hardware bottlenecks and harnessing performance to hit close to the roofline.
• Collaborate with open-source software communities, contributing to projects and working with community maintainers.
• Utilize profiling tools across the AI software stack, such as Torchprofiler, RocM profiler, Vtune, and Nsight.
• Implement and optimize parallel methods on GPU accelerators using NCCL/RCCL, OpenMP, and MPI.
• Provide clear and timely communication related to project status and key aspects to the leadership team.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in C++ and/or Python.
• Experience with at least one major deep learning framework such as Pytorch or Tensorflow in inference, fine-tuning, and/or training.
• BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address performance issues.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn new skills, tools, and methods to advance the quality and consistency of AMD software products.

Preferred Experience

• Expertise in profiling tools across the AI software stack.
• Experience with Singularity, Docker, and/or Kubernetes.
• Performance analysis skills for both CPU and GPU.

Location

While the preferred location is Austin, TX, remote work options may be available for the right candidate.

Compensation and Benefits

At AMD, your base pay is one part of your total rewards package. Your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
