Job Summary
Westat is seeking an individual to work closely with our Statistics and Data Science team. The position requires programming in R, Python, Java, and SQL; providing assistance in querying and processing large data files in databases; applying natural language processing and machine learning methods; experience in data analytics, and data visualization. You would work up to 20 hours per week and the duration of the work is approximately from August 2024 to December 15, 2024.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and test R and Python code.
- Use natural language processing methods to clean, parse, and analyze unstructured text-based documents.
- Apply machine learning and natural language processing methods to data collected from a variety of sources.
- Develop data visualizations in R or Python.
- Develop and maintain code documentation using Git, implement coding standards, and apply best practices.
Basic Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in math, statistics, data science or related field.
- Demonstrated experience in R, Python, Java, SQL, and Git.
Preferred Qualifications
- Queried and processed large data files in databases.
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated communication skills.
- Collaboration with teams, managers and/or clients.
- Organization skills, including time management ability.
- Detail oriented.
