Job Description
Join Visa's Global Data Science group and leverage our rich data sets to support our bank and merchant partners. As a Data Scientist, you will be part of a team that uses data to solve complex business problems and deliver significant results. You will have the opportunity to work with data from over 4 billion cards globally, capturing more than 190 billion transactions annually.
Essential Functions
- Innovative Thinking: Brainstorm creative ways to use data to solve business problems.
- Client Communication: Understand client challenges and provide data-driven insights.
- Data Extraction and Analysis: Extract and analyze data to form insights and develop visualizations for a broad audience.
- Product Development: Identify opportunities to create products from analyses suitable for multiple clients.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with stakeholders to leverage Visa data for business solutions.
- Data Mining and Analysis: Drive optimization and improvement of products, marketing techniques, and business strategies.
- Model Development: Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
- Predictive Modeling: Use predictive modeling to enhance customer experiences and business outcomes.
- Performance Monitoring: Develop tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- 2 years of work experience with a bachelor's degree or an advanced degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or PhD).
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 2+ years with an Advanced Degree.
- Experience in data-based decision-making or quantitative analysis.
- Bachelor’s degree in an analytical field such as statistics, operations research, economics, or computer science.
- Experience with SQL or other data extraction tools.
- Competence in Excel, PowerPoint, and Tableau.
- Experience with statistical software (e.g., Python, SAS, R, Stata).
- Previous exposure to financial services, credit cards, or merchant analytics is a plus.
Additional Information
- Work Hours: Varies based on department needs.
- Travel Requirements: 5-10% travel required.
- Physical Requirements: Office setting, requires sitting and standing at a desk, and operating standard office equipment.
