About the Role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Development Intern to support our programming in New York and New Jersey. This role is crucial in assisting the Development Department with implementing pre-award and post-award activities to ensure the grants' life cycle. The intern will support key business development activities such as content creation, proposal and reporting development, newsletter publication, and organizational needs to maximize our fundraising initiatives and contract processing.

Key Responsibilities

• Pre-Award Grant Support: Assist with sourcing language and data for proposals and attend meetings to learn about program design.
• Business Development: Support specialized business development activities and update one-pagers for the office.
• Communication: Connect with program managers and leads as needed and support newsletter publication by working closely on the back-end portal.
• Post-Award Support: Write specialized thank you cards and support report writing.
• Event and Campaign Support: Develop assets for events, campaigns, and donor communications.
• Organizational Tasks: Perform an audit on folders and templates ensuring a smooth back-end of Development Records.

• Develop key marketing and donor communication skills.
• Acquire project management experience.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree or in the process of obtaining an undergraduate/master’s degree, or at least 1 year of marketing/research experience.
• At least 1 year of previous experience demonstrating high-level writing/research skills.
• Strong communication and time management skills.
• Basic understanding of marketing and writing frameworks.
• Solid organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
• Flexibility to interface with several projects at once, especially in a high-paced environment.

Location

This position serves the IRC’s offices in New York (Manhattan) and Elizabeth, New Jersey, and reports to the Development Director or the Development Coordinator.
