Development Intern - Fall 2024

About the Role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Development Intern for Fall 2024 to support our development programming in the Silver Spring office. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in donor prospecting, research, data collection, and grant management activities within a leading non-profit organization.

Responsibilities

Research and Donor Prospecting: Conduct research on potential major donor prospects and assist with donor outreach and cultivation.
Data Collection and Management: Provide data collection and research, including tracking all forms of funding sources. Update prospecting and proposal management trackers.
Grant Proposal Assistance: Assist in the organization and drafting of grant proposals.
Administrative Support: Perform administrative tasks related to proposal development and ensure a smooth back-end of development records.
Intern Hours Submission: Submit intern hours on the volunteer dashboard.
Additional Duties: Other duties as assigned.

Gain proficiency in research and writing.
Develop skills in donor prospecting and outreach.
Learn about managing the grant life cycle.
Expand understanding of nonprofit development strategies.

Minimum Qualifications

Currently pursuing an undergraduate or master’s degree.
Previous experience demonstrating high-level writing and research skills.
Strong communicator with clear verbal and written expression.
Solid organizational and administrative skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, collaborative environment.
Strong attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
Proficient in spoken and written English.
Ability to work independently and be resourceful.

Internship Details

Location: Silver Spring, Maryland, United States
Commitment: Minimum of 37.5 hours per week.
Start Date: Interns are expected to begin their internship term by attending an in-person intern orientation on September 9th, 2024.
Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. However, Fall 2024 interns may be eligible for per diem reimbursement at the rate of $15/day to offset the costs of food and travel.
