Join Samsung Research America's Digital Health Team as a Fall Intern in Android Development. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and hard-working Android engineer who is interested in taking concepts through various stages of prototyping with increasing levels of fidelity, making our experiences real and exposing them to users to make them great.

Lab Summary

The Digital Health Team is the U.S. branch of the Samsung Global Health Services business. We have product management, researchers, UX designers, user researchers, data scientists, and software engineers co-located to create the future of wellness and clinical care using user-centric design thinking and agile designer-developer workflow.

Position Summary

Samsung Research America (SRA) plays a pivotal role in developing the next generation of discovery in software, user experience, and services for future products that can enrich your life. Position Responsibilities

• Design, develop, unit test, and debug product features and prototype software.
• Troubleshoot issues raised from internal testing or production escalations.
• Implement test framework and test cases for automation.
• Collaborate with the project team on various tasks.

Required Skills

• Pursuing a Bachelor, M.Sc., or PhD in Computer Science.
• Strong programming skills in Kotlin/Java and Android.
• Experience with native Android application development in Kotlin, with a strong focus on native Android UI and front-end experience.
• Experience with high-performance UI development, including custom Android controls and UI elements.
• Experience working with remote data via REST and JSON.
• Strong understanding of physics and mathematics as applied to the development of UI transitions, animations, image processing, etc.
• System development skills (sensors, media, algorithms, threading, memory management, sync, networking, power).
• Experience with Machine Learning projects with proven results.
• Hands-on experience with Android Studio, Gradle.
• Hands-on experience with Github, Confluence, Jira.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A strong collaborator who can work across multi-disciplinary teams.

Additional Information

This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, and frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
