Lead Frontend Developer (React/NextJS)

About the Role

We are seeking a Lead Frontend Developer with expertise in React and NextJS to join our dynamic team in Sliema, Malta. This role is pivotal in driving the design, architecture, and implementation of high-quality, responsive, and scalable web applications. You will work closely with UX/UI designers to translate complex design concepts into engaging, user-friendly interfaces, ensuring a seamless and consistent user experience across all platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Design and Development: Spearhead the design, architecture, and implementation of high-quality, responsive, and scalable web applications using React and NextJS.
• User Experience Excellence: Collaborate closely with our UX/UI designers to translate complex design concepts into engaging, user-friendly interfaces.
• Technical Leadership: Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Innovate and Optimize: Continuously research and integrate the latest frontend technologies and methodologies to optimize application performance, accessibility, and security.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside backend engineers, product managers, and designers to ensure cohesive and efficient product development, from concept to deployment.
• Code Quality Assurance: Write clean, maintainable, and testable code. Conduct regular code reviews to maintain the highest standards of software quality.
• Problem Solving: Tackle complex technical challenges, providing solutions that balance functionality, performance, and user experience.

Qualifications

• Extensive Experience: Over 5 years of professional experience in frontend development, with a strong focus on React and NextJS.
• UX/UI Expertise: Proven track record of developing user interfaces that are both visually appealing and functionally robust.
• Advanced JavaScript Knowledge: Mastery of modern JavaScript (ES6+), including asynchronous programming, state management, and component-based architecture.
• Performance Optimization: Experience in optimizing web applications for performance, including techniques such as lazy loading, code splitting, and server-side rendering.
• Version Control & CI/CD: Proficient with version control systems like Git and familiar with continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
• Team Collaboration: Excellent communication skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• TypeScript Expertise: Experience with TypeScript in large-scale projects.
• Accessibility Standards: Knowledge of web accessibility standards and best practices (WCAG).
• Cloud & DevOps: Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and DevOps practices.
