About the Role
As a Backend Engineer at Craft, you will be part of our Services team, responsible for the foundational building blocks of the Craft platform. This includes databases, authentication, real-time content synchronization, management, APIs, and more. Your role will involve designing, planning, scoping, and implementing services that integrate our mobile and web clients with our core services and data. These APIs need to be highly performant, scalable, and reliable.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement backend services using Node.js and TypeScript.
- Ensure services are scalable, reliable, and performant.
- Work with cloud-native backend platforms using PaaS and serverless on AWS.
- Collaborate with other teams to build features that our users love.
- Maintain a continuous delivery and deployment mindset.
What We're Looking For
- Experience with Databases and Data Management: Solid experience with relational databases and data search technologies.
- Cloud Architecture Familiarity: Basic familiarity with PaaS, FaaS, DBaaS, containers, etc., ideally on AWS.
- Passion for Testable Code: Ability to architect code that can be covered with comprehensive, automated test suites.
- Continuous Delivery & Deployment Mindset: Comfortable with frequently deploying changes to production.
- Attention to Detail: A deep interest in understanding how things work underneath.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with "Infrastructure as Code" using AWS CloudFormation.
- Experience with building scalable and resilient distributed systems.
- Security awareness and respect for user privacy.
