Principal Full-Stack Engineer (Backend Focus)
About the Role
We are seeking a Principal Full-Stack Engineer with a strong focus on backend development to join our team. This role is pivotal as a founding team engineering hire, where you will own the development of key components of our application. While the primary focus is on backend development, approximately 20% of the role will involve front-end work.
Responsibilities
- Backend Development: You will be responsible for the backend architecture and development, primarily using Python and Django. You should have in-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL, including optimizing database performance and utilizing features like PL/pgSQL UDFs.
- Frontend Development: Although the role is backend-focused, you will also engage in some frontend tasks. Moderate experience with JavaScript is required, and familiarity with Vue and React is a plus.
- Product Ownership: Beyond engineering, you will be involved in product thinking. This includes understanding user needs, solving business problems with technical solutions, and designing user interfaces.
Requirements
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python, Django, PostgreSQL, and JavaScript. Experience with Vue and React is advantageous.
- Product Mindset: Ability to engage with users, understand their needs, and translate them into technical solutions. A keen eye for design and the ability to create your own UI solutions is essential.
- Communication: Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
