Overview

Join Microsoft as a Principal Software Architect and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our software-defined datacenter. This position is part of the Azure Core team, which is responsible for building the operating system that powers Azure, focusing on software and machine learning to enhance the efficiency and reliability of our servers, GPUs, and datacenters. This role is crucial in advancing Microsoft's GPU/LLM initiatives and developing key components for AI training supercomputers.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an architect for our software-defined datacenter vision.
  • Design reliable and high-performance systems, and write high-quality code.
  • Influence and collaborate with stakeholders across teams.
  • Recruit and mentor developers on the team.
  • Embody Microsoft's culture and values.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of cloud infrastructure development experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years of technical engineering experience OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years of technical engineering experience.
  • Experience in analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems and critical production online service environments.
  • Proficiency in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in C#.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.

Salary and Benefits

  • The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year, with a different range applicable to specific work locations, such as the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area.
  • Microsoft offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid vacation, retirement plans, flexible work hours, and professional development opportunities.
