Microsoft's Silicon and Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) team is at the forefront of powering Microsoft's "Intelligent Cloud" mission. We are responsible for delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses, including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform globally. Role Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing software solutions that manage and optimize Microsoft's Cloud infrastructure. You will be part of a team that develops software for high throughput and multi-tenant services in the Azure cloud, with a strong emphasis on DevOps concepts and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement software solutions for SCHIE Cloud activities.
• Work on large-scale distributed services on an enterprise-scale cloud.
• Enable firmware deployment flows for existing and upcoming hardware product lines supported by Azure.
• Manage daily live site operations, monitoring, and implementing performance and COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) fixes.
• Support various deployment methods, incident management, and fleet issues.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline AND 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.

Preferred

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years of technical engineering experience OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years of technical engineering experience.
• Experience in distributed cloud services and firmware.
• Experience in service engineering lifecycle and live site operation at internet scale.
• Skills in priority setting, analysis, communication, time management, scheduling, and multitasking.
• Experience working in DevOps for large-scale systems.

This position is based in Sunnyvale, California, and offers a hybrid work environment, allowing employees to work both on-site and off-site.

Salary

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is €117,200 - €229,200 per year, with a different range applicable to specific work locations within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, where the base pay range is €153,600 - €250,200 per year.
