Your Challenge at Wire

Be ready to play an essential role by joining our engineering department in Berlin. You will work on our Android App, which is a key element of our secure collaboration platform, utilizing the latest technologies and protocols for E2EE communication, like Messaging Layer Security (MLS). You will be part of the Android team and will work closely with the QA, product, and other engineering teams regularly.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to our Android codebase written in Kotlin and take ownership of certain code modules.
• Collaborate with your teammates via regular meetings, code reviews, pair programming, and architectural discussions to define, design, and deliver new features.
• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of the application.
• Identify and fix bugs and performance bottlenecks.
• Work closely with QA to identify and close testing gaps.
• Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and best practices in Android development.
• Mentor and guide junior developers, providing technical expertise and support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
• Over 5 years of experience in developing complex Android applications.
• Proven experience in developing Kotlin-based Android applications.
• Comfortable working with Coroutines and Jetpack Compose, and familiar with SQLite.
• Knowledge about clean architecture.
• Fluent in English.
• Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform and developing SDKs for Android is highly valued.
• Good team player with the ability to share constructive feedback.
