Join Our Team as a Senior Android Engineer
Are you ready for a new adventure? Polarsteps, a fast-growing travel app company based in Amsterdam, is looking for a Senior Android Engineer to join our dynamic team. We are a diverse group of 40+ individuals from over 15 nationalities, all united by our passion for travel and technology. Our mission is to change the way people travel by providing a seamless, top-quality user experience through our app, which has already attracted over 5 million users.
Your Role
As a Senior Android Engineer, you will work closely with our Head of Engineering, Lead Android Engineer, and other team members to enhance our Android platform. You will be responsible for implementing new features, improving existing ones, and maintaining the day-to-day operations of our Android app. You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact from day one, as everything you ship will affect millions of users.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product owners, designers, and other engineers in a deeply collaborative environment.
- Implement new features and improve existing ones in our Android app.
- Maintain the app's performance, scalability, and resiliency.
- Address technical debt and prevent it when possible.
- Participate in daily interactions with the team to ensure a seamless workflow.
What We Are Looking For
- A passion for problem-solving and programming.
- Strong knowledge of the native Android SDK (Kotlin/Java) and AndroidX Jetpack libraries.
- Experience with the default Android Studio Stack, Gradle, and GitHub.
- Understanding of mobile application/platform architecture principles.
- Interest in UI/UX and Android frontend development.
- Experience working in an Agile team environment.
Bonus Skills
- Experience with background location tracking, mobile maps (Mapbox), RXJava, Kotlin Multiplatform, OpenGL, Python, Docker.
