Job Description
As a Senior Back-End Engineer at Navan, you will be responsible for building backend services that serve customers across the globe. You will work with a highly motivated team to push features at a fast pace. The services you develop will be mission-critical for our users, enabling them to pay, book, and expense their trips within seconds. Your role will support a highly reliable and resilient application, and you will be part of a continuously improving culture that values craftsmanship and developer productivity.
Responsibilities
- Design and Implement APIs and Core Services: Develop models and business logic to build impactful product features.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality of the features you build, and follow up on usage and issues post-release.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the product and design teams to deliver new features that align with business needs.
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and mentoring to other engineers on the team.
- Framework Development: Contribute to and drive frameworks that lead to significant user experience improvements.
- Technology Adoption: Assist the team in understanding and adopting new technologies.
Requirements
- Experience: Strong programming skills and CS fundamentals with 5+ years of experience in building products.
- Architecture and API Design: Deep skills in architecture and API design to build core services and new product features.
- Ownership: Strong sense of ownership demonstrated through shipping production-quality code equipped with testing, monitoring, and documentation.
- Problem Solving: Passion for solving problems and learning new tools and technologies.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills for working with stakeholders and domain experts across the company.
- Environment: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Preferred Experience: Prior experience working at startups and/or on consumer-facing products.
- Technical Skills: Experience with Java, AWS, and/or distributed systems is a plus. Experience with Hibernate or similar ORM technologies and Spring Framework is a plus.
Compensation
The posted pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the compensation for this position and is subject to change based on business need. To determine a successful candidate’s starting pay, we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location, an evaluation of the candidate’s skills and experience, market demands, and internal parity.
For roles with on-target-earnings (OTE), the pay range includes both base salary and target incentive compensation. Target incentive compensation for some roles may include a ramping draw period. Compensation is higher for those who exceed targets. Candidates may receive more information from the recruiter.
Pay Range: $120,000—$215,000 USD
