Role Overview
As a Senior Backend Engineer at Itemize, you will be responsible for maintaining and innovating on existing backend modules and data stores. You will engage in R&D with our core IP development team and build serverless Node.js APIs to support new functional requirements. This role requires a blend of leadership and hands-on development, including designing and developing core JavaScript-based APIs, configuring pipeline infrastructure for CI/CD, and writing scalable, fault-tolerant software.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of JavaScript-based APIs for both client-facing and internal applications.
- Design new services to support functional requirements and core IP advancements.
- Configure and manage AWS services including API Gateway, Lambda, Cloudwatch, CodePipeline, ECS, and S3.
- Utilize Docker for containerized software solutions.
- Collaborate with a virtual, agile team to deliver pragmatic software solutions.
- Assist with operational support, monitoring, and triaging production issues.
Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of JavaScript software development experience, with a strong focus on Node.js.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Proficient with AWS and developing/integrating RESTful APIs.
- Experience with relational databases and efficient SQL query writing.
- Familiarity with frontend technologies for effective collaboration with frontend teams.
