Job Overview
Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking a Senior Full Stack Web Developer to join the Institute for Genomic Medicine (IGM) in Columbus, Ohio. This full-time position is ideal for a mid-to-senior level software developer passionate about solving complex problems and making a significant impact in medical research and patient care. The role involves developing intuitive web applications for genomic variant interpretation, focusing on UX-centric design and best practices for application usability across multiple platforms.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand problems, identify solutions, and evaluate relevant research and market conditions.
- Develop performant web applications using React.js with relational databases.
- Architect custom software solutions that are security/privacy/legal compliant.
- Maximize solution reusability and portability by using device/OS agnostic approaches.
- Mentor junior developers and help the team overcome technical challenges.
- Participate in discussions, group meetings, and progress reports for stakeholders at IGM.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
- 3+ years of professional software development experience.
- Demonstrable experience with Python and REST APIs.
- Working knowledge of relational database design and development.
- Experience with JavaScript ES6, React.js, HTML, and CSS.
- Familiarity with AWS, MySQL, TypeScript, and UI/UX design is beneficial.
