About The Role
We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel with a minimum of 8-10 years of experience to join our team in Brussels. This role is ideal for a legal professional with a strong background in procurement activities, intellectual property (IP), information technology (IT), and a good understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and new technologies. Experience with US lawyers or companies is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Legal Activities: Plan and execute complex legal activities to provide sound legal advice and decisions to support SWIFT's operations and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Project Support: Provide legal support for new company projects by researching specific legal issues and offering opinions and counsel.
- Contract Management: Draft, review, and recommend amendments to company contracts. Participate in negotiations and set standards for company contracts and legal policies.
- Litigation Coordination: Coordinate and follow up on worldwide litigation, negotiate claims with third parties, and liaise with management, staff, and external parties.
- Risk Management: Manage risk areas and control frameworks on a project basis, understanding the corporate strategic risk footprint and proposing solutions to mitigate risks.
- Team Leadership: Drive and assist less senior counsel, review work of outside counsels, and lead by example.
