Job Description
Amazon Devices is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Architect to join our innovative research and development team. This role is pivotal in designing and engineering high-profile devices such as the Kindle, Fire Tablets, Fire TV, and Amazon Echo. You will be part of a team developing the next generation of System on Chips (SoCs) for machine learning-enabled consumer products.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze Deep Learning Workloads: Map these workloads to Amazon’s Neural Edge Engine and propose new hardware architectures or improvements to existing ones.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with compiler engineers, model developers, hardware architects, and product teams to build the best ML-centric hardware and software solutions.
- Deliver Design Collateral: Provide hardware architecture, microarchitecture, and other design collateral for next-generation ML accelerators.
- Develop Modeling Tools: Build tools for modeling and performance evaluation to enable power, performance, and cost trade-offs.
- Realize Architecture on Silicon: Collaborate with full-stack silicon designers to implement the architecture on silicon.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning.
- 3+ years of experience building machine learning models for business applications.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, or Python.
- PhD or Master’s degree with 6+ years of applied research experience.
- 3+ years of experience designing hardware IP, preferably for machine learning workloads.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy, etc.
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems like Hadoop and Spark.
- Proficiency in HDL languages like Verilog, VHDL, or High-Level Synthesis (HLS).

Compensation
The base pay for this position ranges from $150,400/year to $260,000/year, depending on market location and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional compensation may include equity, sign-on payments, and other benefits.
