Overview
As a Senior Member of Technical Staff in the Identity Engineering organization at PayPal, you will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s identity and access management systems. This role is critical in ensuring the security, scalability, and efficiency of the identity infrastructure, aligning with business objectives and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Develop Identity Solutions: Engage with multiple teams of highly talented engineers and architects to design and develop highly scalable, secure, and configurable identity solutions that meet the needs of our customers and stakeholders.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Actively engage with leadership across Product, Architecture, Design, and Engineering to design, propose, discuss, and refine new features and functionality.
- Innovate and Implement: Collaborate with other engineering teams, IT, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver innovative identity solutions that meet organizational needs.
- Technical Communication: Communicate with stakeholders on technical standards, principles, methodologies, and trends.
- Enhance System Operations: Establish best practices for code quality, reduction in tech debt, and building frameworks or shared techniques to improve engineering effectiveness.
- Drive Technical Decisions: Influence management for driving technical decision-making for the right selection of technology by giving forthright, understandable, and actionable advice.
- Engage with Standards Organizations: Work with standards defining organizations to understand evolving standards, identify gaps, and contribute to roadmap planning to build a world-class CIAM platform.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: 8-12 years of experience building successful production software systems and identity solutions.
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of identity management technologies, protocols, and standards, and competent in designing solutions for reliability, availability, scalability, and performance.
- Modern Technologies: Experience in modern technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js.
- Design Patterns: Understands use cases for advanced design patterns to implement efficient code.
- Software Engineering Tools: Competent in software engineering tools and best practices.
- Agile Methodologies: Experience with using Agile/Scrum methodology for software development.

Work Environment
PayPal's balanced hybrid work model offers 3 days in the office for effective in-person collaboration and 2 days at your choice of either the PayPal office or your home workspace, ensuring that you equally have the benefits and conveniences of both locations.
