Overview
Join PayPal's Merchant Engineering team as a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and delivering state-of-the-art payment solutions and merchant experiences. You will work on both front-end and back-end software applications, contributing to the overall development and implementation of our systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer-Centric Development: Demonstrate a customer-centric mindset in your day-to-day work.
- Design and Implementation: Ensure that design and implementation adhere to defined specifications and processes.
- Quality Assurance: Own the end-to-end quality of deliverables during all phases of the software development lifecycle.
- Collaboration: Work within PayPal’s cross-functional technology team to understand technical designs and collaborate with core platform and infrastructure teams.
- Adaptability: Function effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage continuously changing business needs.
Required Skills and Experience
- Experience: 8+ years in software development, with a focus on designing and implementing scalable, fault-tolerant components.
- Full Stack Proficiency: Strong front-end and back-end programming skills with 5+ years of experience as a full stack engineer.
- Front-End Technologies: Proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks such as Angular JS, React, and Amber.
- Back-End Technologies: Proficiency in Java, Python, Rails, Ruby, .NET, or PHP.
- APIs and Testing: Experience with REST APIs, web services, unit testing, and build tools.
- Database Management: Good understanding and hands-on experience with databases such as MySQL and Oracle.
- Communication and Problem Solving: Excellent verbal communication skills and good problem-solving abilities.

Compensation and Benefits
PayPal is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is $84,500 to $204,600. The total compensation may include an annual performance bonus, equity, and medical, dental, vision, and other benefits.
Work Environment
PayPal offers a balanced hybrid work model with 3 days in the office for effective in-person collaboration and 2 days at your choice of either the PayPal office or your home workspace.
