Job Description
Overview
Join PayPal as a Staff Backend Engineer specializing in Ruby on Rails. You will be part of the Vault Pillar team, focusing on backend development to support our Vault Pillar applications. This role involves implementing new features to enhance Braintree's Vault offering, ensuring applications work as expected to maintain Vault freshness across all our Merchants.
Your Impact
- Drive the development of innovative features that enhance our product's value and desirability for merchants.
- Influence the strategic direction of our technical solutions, ensuring scalability and performance.
- Mentor and support team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy high-quality Ruby on Rails applications.
- Review team Pull Requests (PRs) for accuracy and stability, adhering to RoR best practices.
- Attend Scrum ceremony calls to ensure deliverables are met or blockers are identified early.
- Participate in pairing sessions with other developers for collaboration and education.
- Oversee the stability and performance of existing applications, providing support as needed.
- Engage in code reviews and critiques.
- Drive team discussions on technical strategy, system architecture, and engineering design to meet various functional and non-functional requirements.

Work Environment
PayPal offers a balanced hybrid work model with 3 days in the office for effective in-person collaboration and 2 days at your choice of either the PayPal office or your home workspace.
