Senior Software Engineer, Backend (PHP)

Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend to join our dynamic engineering team in Draper, Utah. This is a hybrid position requiring some in-office presence each week. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing our industry-leading HR software for small and medium businesses.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and Maintain Backend Systems: Write efficient and scalable code for backend processes, RESTful public web APIs, and our main website.
Research and Implement Solutions: Investigate new technologies and engineer complete solutions to complex problems.
Optimize Performance: Propose and implement performance optimizations and scaling strategies to ensure our software remains fast and reliable.
Collaborate with Team Members: Work closely with other developers and UI designers to integrate your projects into the application seamlessly.
Contribute to System Improvements: Participate in the ongoing improvement of our systems and processes to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications

Experience: 5+ years of experience in web development, particularly in service development using PHP, Python, Java, or C#.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in PHP 8, MySQL, and version control software (preferably Git).
Communication: Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with JavaScript developers and UI designers.
Education: A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.

Preferred Skills

Technical Leadership: Demonstrated experience in technical leadership roles.
SaaS Development: Experience in developing Software as a Service (SaaS) with fast release cycles.
