Join Airbnb's Core Services Team
Airbnb is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Core Services team, specifically focusing on Auth Infrastructure. This team is pivotal in building and maintaining the infrastructure around Airbnb’s authorization systems, which manage permissions for all Airbnb platform products and services. These systems provide developers at Airbnb with a robust and scalable framework to ensure secure and controlled access, enabling the creation of trustworthy applications.
Responsibilities
- Design and Implement Distributed Systems: You will be responsible for designing significant parts of the authorization systems, implementing core features, and formulating rollout and testing plans.
- Maintain and Debug Systems: This includes fixing bugs, improving test coverage, enhancing performance, and contributing to production excellence.
- Technical Support: Provide support to other engineers and developers, including answering questions, debugging code, and troubleshooting problems.
- Collaboration: Work closely with product and infra engineering teams to build new features and evolve systems to meet growing business needs.
- Stay Updated: Keep abreast of the latest security threats and trends by reading security blogs, attending conferences, or taking courses.
Qualifications
- Experience with Distributed Systems: Proven experience in working with distributed systems and evaluating trade-offs.
- Proficiency in Java: Strong skills in Java are essential for this role.
- Technical Communication: Ability to write design docs, present in design reviews, and write effective post-mortems.
- Collaboration Skills: Enjoy collaborating via code reviews and architecture discussions.
- Team Culture: Motivated to contribute to a positive team culture.
Location
This position is US - Remote Eligible. While primarily remote, occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites may be required, as agreed with your manager. You must reside in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.

Compensation
- Salary Range: $185,000—$223,000 USD
- Additional Benefits: This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and Employee Travel Credits.
