About the Role
Phaidra is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Data Platform team. This role involves significant backend development, focusing on building streaming and batch components for real-time and historical data ingestion and processing. You will also be responsible for building and optimizing data and feature stores, as well as high-throughput and highly-available multi-modal APIs used across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement significant parts of the codebase for our data platform.
- Build services for fetching and storing external third-party data required for AI training, such as weather forecasts.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of product backend by writing REST & gRPC API services and scalable event-driven backend applications.
- Design and optimize a secure and efficient system for storing and utilizing data, including developing strategies for data management and implementing security measures.
- Make the platform deployable in cloud, hybrid, and on-prem environments.
- Perform DevOps duties including CI/CD, release, and deployment management.
- Participate in the global production on-call team, owning and operating your services in production to meet Phaidra's high standards for operational excellence.
Ideal Candidate
- 4+ years of work experience in software engineering with a focus on backend development.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Strong understanding of relational and non-relational data modeling, micro-services, and event-driven systems.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker & Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with configuring cloud infrastructure using tools like Terraform or similar.
- Exposure to industrial control systems and processes is a plus.
