About the Role
Join Toast, a dynamic and innovative software development company, as a Senior Software Engineer on the International Growth team. This role is pivotal in building and evolving products with a global-first mindset, ensuring they meet the diverse needs of international markets. You will be directly involved in the entire product lifecycle, from conception through rollout, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop new region-specific products tailored for global customers.
- Enhance existing product suites to better fit the needs of international markets.
- Collaborate with pilot customers to ensure successful product delivery and operation.
- Work across various teams at Toast, including R&D, customer support, and new customer onboarding.
- Lead projects from discovery through to development and deployment.
- Mentor and coach other team members, promoting technical excellence.
Requirements
- High proficiency in Java or Kotlin.
- Strong understanding of API principles, particularly REST.
- Passion for building well-engineered, usable, and accessible systems.
- Agile mindset with a focus on delivering usable software.
- Adaptability to work in changing environments.
Nice to Have
- Experience with localization and internationalization frameworks.
- Experience implementing component testing and E2E testing.
- Familiarity with iOS, Android, or front-end technologies.
Tech Stack
- Java & Kotlin based backend services.
- React SPAs using Tailwind, GraphQL, and Storybook.
- Android apps built in Java & Kotlin.
- PostgreSQL and DynamoDB for core persistence.
- Pulsar, Camel, and RabbitMQ for message-based integrations.
