DevOps Engineer II, Infrastructure Engineering
Join Toast's Infrastructure Engineering team as a DevOps Engineer II, where you'll play a crucial role in building and maintaining the tooling and infrastructure that supports Toast's core systems. This position is based in Dublin, Ireland, and offers a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage infrastructure and software-defined networking in AWS, integrating with external systems such as SaaS and partner networks.
- Utilize DevOps methodologies to enhance quality and developer velocity.
- Maintain large-scale infrastructure, including production and non-production workloads, and manage configurations.
- Build automation tools using modern programming languages, preferably Go or Python.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams across Ireland, India, and the US to support and expand Toast's application offerings.
- Ensure compliance with PCI, SOX, SOC 2, and GDPR standards.
- Implement monitoring and observability solutions using tools like Datadog and Splunk.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with public cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, and Azure.
- Proficiency in building automation tools and managing infrastructure using Terraform and Ansible.
- Strong background in Linux and experience with version control software.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, such as PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies.
- A proactive attitude and a track record of success in a collaborative team environment.

Toast's infrastructure is managed via the AWS API, using configuration management tools like Terraform and Ansible. We rely on Datadog and Splunk for monitoring and observability, and FireHydrant for alerting and incident response. Our microservice architecture is written in Java and Kotlin, with heavy use of AWS products like S3, RDS, DynamoDB, ECS, and Lambda.
