The Team

We are building a new engineering team to drive the productization of an exciting innovation project: the Collaborative Business Execution Network (CBEN). This project aims to extend Celonis’ process observability beyond company boundaries, allowing companies to share and augment data with their business partners, opening new opportunities for process improvement across value chains.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join the CBEN team in Madrid. This role is ideal for someone with extensive experience in building large-scale software systems and a strong background in Node.js-based cloud systems.

Responsibilities

• Work on the productization and build-out of a highly innovative project.
• Demonstrate a strong command of cloud-native and backend technologies.
• Develop on the backend of our projects and ensure seamless integration.
• Implement and improve test strategies to ensure high quality.
• Ensure our solutions are scalable, maintainable, and perform well.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to create cohesive and efficient solutions.
• Work with adjacent teams to drive holistic project success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Software Engineering) or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in backend engineering roles.
• 3+ years of experience building production-grade software with JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, and its ecosystem.
• Proven experience in building and running cloud-native systems on Kubernetes and AWS.
• Proficiency in API design (e.g., REST, openAPI, GraphQL, or gRPC).
• Experience with databases (e.g., relational DBs or noSQL DBs) and storage technologies (e.g., AWS S3).
• Proficiency in working with Docker and other containerization technologies.
• Experience in modern software development teams (Git strategy, CI/CD, Testing).
• Ability to quickly learn new things without tight supervision.
• Problem-solving attitude and collaborative team spirit.
• Fluent in English.

What Makes You Stand Out

• Experience with behavior-driven development (e.g., cucumber.js).
• Understanding of web security best practices, including authentication and authorization mechanisms and protocols (TLS, CORS, OAuth2, OID connect).
• Experience in enterprise software development.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
