Overview
Join the Azure Core Linux team at Microsoft, where our mission is to empower every Linux developer and operator to innovate and run secure, reliable services at scale. As a Senior Software Engineering Manager, you will lead efforts to make Azure the best platform for Linux workloads, focusing on developing and operating both new and existing production services.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of software engineers working on improving the Linux and cloud native experience on Azure.
- Interface with stakeholders to advise on the best use of open-source technologies.
- Help product teams understand how to leverage open source effectively.
- Act as a liaison between stakeholders and upstream projects to facilitate upstream changes.
- Participate in product engineering, review, and documentation of code changes.
- Stay current with the cloud infrastructure technology landscape.
- Collaborate extensively with other Microsoft teams across internal and external projects.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
- Extensive technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, Golang, Rust, or .NET (on Linux).
- Deep understanding of core Linux technologies (e.g., kernel, early-boot, systemd, container primitives, filesystems, packaging, eBPF).
- Experience in production code reviews and source code control for cloud services.
- Excellent communication skills for technical issues and requirements.
- Active participation in open-source projects.
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Proficiency in Linux, containers, Kubernetes, and distributed systems.
- Proven ability to adapt to new programming languages.
