Senior Software Engineer - Security

Job Description

Microsoft is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Security team in Dublin, Ireland. This role is pivotal in designing and developing security monitoring systems to detect threats across large-scale on-prem and cloud infrastructures. You will be part of the Microsoft Identity & Network Access (IDNA) team, which plays a crucial role in safeguarding over a billion active users every month.

Responsibilities

• Design and Development: Lead the design and development of security monitoring systems for threat detection across large-scale infrastructures.
• Threat Detection: Proactively identify attack vectors and scenarios, implementing security monitoring to detect them.
• Collaboration: Work closely with security investigators and RED teams to develop detection scenarios.
• Tool Adoption: Implement and roll out in-house security monitoring tools across all infrastructures.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate with multiple teams to brainstorm, define, and build security solutions.
• Data Science Collaboration: Work with the Data Science team to develop machine learning-based detections.
• Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership to ensure engineering excellence and influence the adoption of secure systems.
• Live Services Maintenance: Maintain live services operations, addressing issues on a rotational, on-call basis, and implement solutions for complex issues impacting performance or functionality.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field.
• Experience: Hands-on development experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Cloud Technologies: Proficient in working with Azure cloud technologies, Identity Management, Machine Learning, and AI.
• Data Analytics: Experienced in data analytics to generate threat intelligence signals.
• Query Languages: Skilled in Kusto Query Language (KQL) or SQL.
• Security Systems: Adept at developing and maintaining security monitoring systems.

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
