Job Overview
Umbrage is seeking a Senior Web Application Developer to join our dynamic engineering team in Houston, Texas. As a senior engineer, you will lead and grow our engineering teams, helping us build impactful digital products. You will be responsible for developing new products, identifying requirements, setting timelines, and implementing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Skills
- Write code that aligns with architecture best practices, is easily testable, and accounts for edge cases and errors.
- Use systematic debugging to diagnose cross-service issues.
- Approach all work with a security lens, actively seeking out security vulnerabilities.
- Continuously strengthen your understanding of best practices.
Delivery
- Prioritize tasks and note dependencies.
- Commit to a realistic amount of work and deliver based on priority and urgency.
- Anticipate and communicate blockers, delays, and unexpected costs.
- Clearly communicate expectations to team members.
- Critically evaluate the team’s product and technical design, practices, and processes, offering regular suggestions for improvement.

- Communicate technical and non-technical information clearly and concisely, adjusting for your audience as needed.

Education and Experience
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
- Recognized as a team leader.
- Experience in JavaScript, TypeScript, SQL, and Git.
- Experience in Go and Python is preferred.
