About the Role

As a Senior Developer in IT Applications at American Airlines, you will be a key member of the Information Technology Team. You will leverage cutting-edge technology to solve business problems, participating in all phases of the development process from inception through transition. This role involves advocating for agile processes and test-driven development, using object-oriented development tools to analyze, model, design, construct, and test reusable objects, and improving the codebase.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with leaders, business analysts, project managers, IT architects, technical leads, and other developers to understand requirements and develop solutions according to business needs.
• Maintain and enhance existing services, applications, and platforms using domain-driven design and test-driven development.
• Troubleshoot and debug complex issues, identifying and implementing solutions.
• Create detailed project specifications, requirements, and estimates.
• Research and implement new technologies to enhance current processes, security, and performance.
• Support the development of coding standards and adhere to best practices and security guidelines.
• Work closely with software architects and technical leads to ensure decisions meet long-term enterprise growth needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training.
• 3 years of full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale applications in hosted production environments.
• 3 years of professional, design, and open-source experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related field.
• 5 years of full SDLC experience.
• Experience in the airline industry.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in Full Stack Development.
• Experience with Java, Spring-Boot, Spring Cloud, NextJs, React, HTML5, CSS, Node, Angular, SOAP/REST.
• Familiarity with DevOps Toolchain tools like Github, Github Actions, ADO, Terraform.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as Cosmos, Redis, PostgreSQL.
• Cloud-based development experience with Kubernetes and Azure Cloud.
• Knowledge of Qik language.
• Proficiency in object-oriented design techniques and principles.
• Experience in Agile methodologies, such as SCRUM.
