About the Role

As a Software Engineer at Optiver, you will join our dynamic teams within the Infrastructure Department to develop and maintain a robust and reliable foundation for our trading software's infrastructure. What We Do

We manage a vast infrastructure with over 2500 servers worldwide, connected by a private network to our Amsterdam data center. Our teams develop and manage high-performance, low-latency applications that handle trading operations. We believe in Infrastructure as Code to scale and maintain standards, focusing on solving infrastructure operations challenges through software.

What You'll Do

Participate in the design and implementation of systems for managing our infrastructure, primarily using Python.
Engage in both development (80%) and operational tasks (20%), with some team members focusing more on one than the other based on skillsets and preferences.
Join a rotation schedule for operational weeks to monitor dashboards and assist users, and participate in an on-call rotation during business hours.
Write and review code, provision servers, apply configuration changes, debug production issues, and plan infrastructure changes with other teams.

What You'll Need

Strong desire to automate work and solve problems.
Ability to code in Python or willingness to learn quickly.
Experience with real-life infrastructure, configuration management, and networking.
Extra points for experience in building Python tools for infrastructure automation and knowledge of virtualization technologies.
