Join Offstream as a Backend Software Engineer
Offstream is seeking a talented backend software engineer to join our expanding engineering team. This role is primarily focused on backend development, but you will occasionally work on the frontend, especially as our team is currently small. You will be the second engineer to join our team, which currently consists of one engineer and the co-founder/CTO. This position offers a unique opportunity to significantly influence the architecture and development of the Offstream product.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with founders and team members to understand product requirements and develop effective technical solutions.
- Architect significant portions of Offstream's codebase, focusing on infrastructure, data storage, and deployments.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and sprint planning/retrospectives.
- Mentor and share knowledge with other engineers as the team grows.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of software engineering experience, preferably with some time at an early-stage startup.
- Experience with AWS and infrastructure as code best practices.
- Understanding of software development principles, including testing, CI, and deployment strategies.
- Familiarity with Offstream's tech stack: Typescript, Next.js, GraphQL, and Postgres.
- Experience with relational databases.
- Interest in product and design.
- BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Interview Process

- First Technical Interview: Solve a technical problem similar to real work at Offstream.
- Second Technical Interview: Focus on system design, discussing relational databases and APIs.
- Team Interview: Meet with Zach and Varsha to discuss your background and motivations.
