About the Role
Clear Street is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Broker Dealer Clearing team. This role is pivotal in designing and implementing technology solutions that enable some of the largest trading firms in the world to operate efficiently. You will be responsible for automating processes that ensure trades are executed correctly, assets are transferred on time, and risks are managed effectively.
Responsibilities
- Solve complex engineering problems that underpin the financial system, handling tens of millions of trades per day.
- Build highly available, scalable, mission-critical applications using a modern technology stack.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams to address scalability concerns and enable higher volumes of trades.
- Work closely with users to understand and define new features, driving them to completion.
- Develop a deep understanding of the business domain to inform your engineering decisions.
Requirements
- At least five years of professional software engineering experience with strong proficiency in Java and our tech stack.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Deep knowledge of computer science fundamentals, such as algorithms and data structures.
- High degree of self-motivation and willingness to explore unfamiliar areas to solve problems.
- Ability to work with stakeholders to develop new product ideas, design the technology to implement them, and see them through to completion.
- Experience in building trading systems or high-throughput streaming applications is preferred.
