About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Member of Technical Staff (MTS) to join the Aviatrix Network Observability team. You will assist in developing and maintaining tools and systems that enhance our network monitoring capabilities. If you are passionate about software development and network technologies, this role offers hybrid work flexibility in Champaign, IL or Santa Clara, CA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior engineers to design and implement software solutions for network observability.
  • Develop, test, and maintain code for monitoring systems and tools.
  • Assist in analyzing network data to identify performance issues.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to network monitoring.
  • Document processes and technical specifications.

Data Pipeline and Analytics

  • Work with data pipeline technologies such as Kafka, Pulsar, RabbitMQ, FluentD, Prometheus, Open Telemetry, etc.
  • Utilize big data storage/processing technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Storm, Flink, Beam, Druid, Pinot, Clickhouse, InfluxDB, TimeseriesDB, etc.
  • Perform basic tasks in ML—Data cleansing, feature extraction, feature reduction, supervised and unsupervised learning, cross-validation, and analysis.
  • Implement data analytics algorithms such as regression, decision trees, SVM, neural nets, deep learning, etc.

Working with Cloud Service Providers

  • Engage with one or more cloud service providers (CSPs) such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Configure cloud resources with a scripting interface such as Terraform.
  • Understand core abstractions provided by CSPs such as VPCs, IAM, and security groups.

Networking Systems and Security

  • Understand the OSI/ISO network architecture.
  • Be familiar with multiple protocols at various levels of the network stack.
  • Experience with network or operating systems security such as TLS and basic access controls.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or Golang.
  • Basic understanding of network protocols and OSI/ISO network architecture.
  • Knowledge of data pipeline technologies such as Kafka, Pulsar, RabbitMQ, FluentD, Prometheus, Open Telemetry, etc.
  • Knowledge of Cloud Platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure, OCI).

US Pay Range

The US National Annual base salary range for this full-time position is $132,000-$165,200 + benefits + 401(k) match + equity. The pay range is determined by the role, work location, job-related skills, level, experience, and relevant education.
