Join SpaceX as a Senior Data Scientist in Guidance, Navigation & Controls for Starlink
SpaceX is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist to join the Guidance, Navigation & Controls (GNC) team for Starlink, the world's most advanced broadband internet system. Starlink is a revolutionary satellite constellation providing fast, reliable internet to millions of users worldwide. As a Data Scientist on the Starlink GNC Team, you will play a crucial role in developing strategies, metrics, tools, models, and processes to monitor the health and safety of over 6,000 satellites in orbit.
Key Responsibilities
- Statistical Analysis and Telemetry: Combine statistical analysis, software, and telemetry to uncover trends in the Starlink constellation.
- Actionable Insights: Transform insights into action items for engineering teams, using statistically-driven evidence.
- Monitoring Systems: Develop and implement systems to quickly detect trends and regressions.
- Predictive Modeling: Develop and validate models predicting constellation health and risk.
- Future Rollouts: Guide the rollout of next-generation satellites based on current performance insights.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, statistics, or a related STEM discipline.
- 5+ years of professional experience in data science or machine learning.
- 3+ years of experience with Python and SQL.
- 3+ years of experience with statistical modeling and machine learning algorithms.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience in analytics, data science, or machine learning.
- Proficiency in building predictive models and machine learning pipelines.
- Excellent data visualization skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with developing and deploying data analysis tools.
- Ability to parse technical subjects deeply and drive positive outcomes.
- Self-starter attitude with the ability to communicate across disciplines.
- Background in statistics or computational physics.
Additional Requirements
- Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
- Must meet ITAR requirements: U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $160,000 - $220,000 per year.
