Loft Orbital is seeking a talented Backend Engineer to join our international Ground Software team. With satellites already in orbit and more launches on the horizon, this role is crucial for ensuring the safety and performance of our space operations. As a Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for analyzing satellite performance, designing maneuvers, and conducting simulations using both proprietary and third-party toolkits.

Key Responsibilities

• Design Flight Dynamics Tools: Develop tools for mission control and planning systems.
• Write Scalable Code: Enhance our flight dynamics services with robust, scalable code.
• Develop Features: Work on both open-source and proprietary libraries to advance flight dynamics features.
• Support Internal Use: Provide support for using cockpit internally.
• Orbit Propagation and Determination: Plan and execute orbital maneuvers.
• Satellite Management: Maintain and manage our satellites and constellations from an orbital perspective.
• Participate in Spacecraft Operations: Engage in spacecraft operations as part of a collaborative team.

Must-Have Skills

• Proficiency in Python and C++.
• Experience with Orbit Propagation and Orbit Determination.
• Knowledge of State Estimation and Filtering Techniques.
• Familiarity with Orbital Maneuvering Techniques.
• Some experience with web development backend frameworks and API design.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with Django and GraphQL.
• Database interactions with Kubernetes, InfluxDB, and TimescaleDB.
• Understanding of Attitude Dynamics and Spacecraft Constellation Management.
• Skills in Conjunction Assessment.

Salary

The base compensation range for this role is $119,000 to $175,000 per year, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. We evaluate individuals based on their unique experience and abilities to fit our needs.
